Hi, I’m Julia.

I’m a registered nurse and expert copywriter in the mental health and happiness space. 

I grew up on the West Coast of Canada and currently live in Portland, Maine with my two rambunctious pups! 

I believe everyone can benefit from mental health support. I’m especially passionate about helping people invite abundant joy and happiness into their lives.

How this works:

We’ll start with a free 30-minute call together. 

This gives you a chance to get a feel for me, and gives me a chance to learn what you’re all about, and exactly how I can help you!

Now heads up, my process for writing blogs and emails is a liiiiiiitle different from most copywriters. 

And that’s because your readers want to hear from YOU, not from the internet. They want to learn about YOUR unique approach and YOUR expertise. They don’t want regurgitated facts they could Google themselves.

With that in mind, for each blog, I’ll have you take 15-30 minutes and send me stream-of-consciousness thoughts either by email or by using Otter, a voice-to-text app. 

This can include things like stories from your practice, common threads you notice, and misconceptions you want to set straight. 

Don’t worry, I’ll help you come up with ideas, and your thoughts DO NOT have to be organized or even grammatically correct. 

In fact, the more conversational, the better.

I’ll then take what you send me, organize it, supplement it with thorough research and SEO strategy, and create a final product you’ll love.

During our hour-long consultation, we’ll go through your website together page by page so you can get real-time feedback and solutions.

These collaborative consultations help you:

I know it can feel brag-y to talk about yourself on your website, but here’s the thing: your future clients want to know who the heck they’re working with! That means telling them about yourself specifically. Our conversation will help you get to the heart of why you do what you do. Then you can share that with your clients in a way that feels authentic instead of boastful.  

  • Prioritize what to focus on first. It can be overwhelming to set up or fine-tune your online presence. Make sure your effort is going into areas that will move your practice forward!

  • Review the visual layout of your website, blogs, or emails. There might be places that make sense to you, but where your clients are getting lost. We’ll go over ideas of how to make your work intuitive and easy to navigate.

  • Use language that’s understandable to your potential clients, not just to your colleagues. Sure, sometimes speaking the lingo can sound impressive. But at the end of the day, clarity wins over complexity every time.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Many people aren’t sure what to expect from working with a copywriter, so let me set your mind at ease. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you can expect from working with me, starting with the free 30-minute phone call I offer. 

This initial phone call is a chance for us to get to know each other. Thirty minutes is longer than most free calls you’ll come across – that’s because I want to make sure we have time to really connect.

The focus of our call will be on me learning about your passion, your business, and your priorities. You’ll also get to know more about my style and be able to ask any questions you have. We’ll also talk about your goals and what types of copywriting services will help you the most.

In my experience, many mental health professionals aren’t used to talking about themselves. To help you feel more comfortable, here are a few questions you can start thinking about before our call:

  • Who is your ideal client, and why? Be as specific as you can. 

  • What do you love most about your practice?

  • What’s one aspect of your practice you wish could be streamlined?

Feel free to also jot down and bring any questions or wonderings you have for me.

If you’re comfortable with it, I’ll record our call so I can actively listen during our conversation instead of being distracted by taking notes. That way I can go back and make sure I haven’t missed anything.

After our call, I’ll send you a summary of my notes and ideas, as well as pricing options for any services we discussed.

I like to start with a smaller project so we can get to know each other’s style a little better. After our initial engagement, we’ll have more clarity and can decide whether to move forward with a larger project. 

As we discuss more specific types of content, I might ask you for an example of a piece of work you like to make sure we’re on the same page. We can also talk about what deadlines we’re looking to hit. 

Once we’ve decided on a good fit for our initial project I’ll send you a contract with the details we discussed. To secure your deadline and your spot in my calendar, fifty percent of the total cost is due when the contract is signed.  

Then it’s time for the fun part! I’ll begin on the work and send you the first draft on or before the deadline we agreed on. The second half of the cost will be due at this time. 

Once the first draft is submitted I’ll ask for your input and suggested edits. I’ll then review and complete the edits and send you the final draft.

After that, you’re ready to publish and reap the benefits of high-quality content!
